On November 3, 1948, the Chicago Daily Tribune erroneously reported that “Dewey Defeats Truman” for the Presidency of the United States. Harry Truman is famously known to have held up the newspaper with an air of celebration in his victory. Even with the internet, cell phones, iPads, and text messaging, the news media still has times when they do not get the scoop on a story correctly. Most recently, both Fox News and CNN reported that the Supreme Court had determined that President Barack Obama’s signature achievement, the Affordable Care Act, was unconstitutional. As we all know, this was erroneously reported by both news agencies and the Individual Mandate was found to be constitutional.
